MIST Training
Jun 24, 2013
From the 1st January 2010 everyone working in the UK North Sea will be required to have a MIST Certificate. (Minimum Industry Safety Training).
Experienced offshore workers may obtain the certificate on for a cost of £65.40 from www.petrolearn.com and clicking on “MIST License Purchase” in the Left hand side column. Individuals can access this themselves from any network connection and purchase on line using a secure credit card payment facility. The Contractor will first need a Vantage number which he will reference on-line. Once he has undertaken the training it will automatically update his Vantage Record (there is no certificate). MIST is valid for 4 years.
Within the MIST programme for Experienced Operators there is initially a Pre-Assessment exam which identifies gaps in the Candidates knowledge (There are nine modules to complete). Where the gaps are identified the Candidate is given information to review which will help them answer some further questions to enable them to pass to the next module. If you keep getting the answers wrong it takes you through further tuition and further questions until you get it right. The Pre-Assessment takes on average one hour to complete after which time the trainee can log off and complete the remainder at another time at his convenience.. The remainder of the test can take as long as 6 hours If you keep getting questions wrong – however it does not need to be done in one day (if you know yourstuff of course it will take a lot less time than this). Once the pre-assessment exam is complete the remainder can be undertaken over a period of days if necessary.
