We have undertaken a review of our current route to competency and have been developing a “Fast Track” for experienced candidates. In reality what this means is by combining a candidate’s historic records and past achievements we can help them to the finishing line quicker.
It is no secret our industry continues to have a fragmented approach regarding the standardisation of qualifications in the service sector. The SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) approved Wellwise Group Competency Award has for some time addressed this issue. On completion of the scheme candidates have the comfort of knowing their professional credentials are underpinned by a formal qualification. However there has been an increasing need to recognise past achievements and qualifications and find a method to credit these towards gaining recognition of competence in your core discipline.
We understand the frustration of experienced contractors who have various historic records and certification that until now could not be used as credit towards an overall certificate of competence - this is often termed “grandfathers rights”. WWG have now developed a procedure to take these records and experience into account and reduce the number of submissions required to achieve the competence certification.
On completion of an initial review, if the candidate has met the threshold of the evaluation process they will be invited to undertake “Competency Fast Track”.
Competency Fast Track reduces the number of submissions required by as much as 50% in some cases, as a result the route to gaining an industry recognised and standardised qualification has been made less onerous.
For those who do not meet the criteria for Fast Track we will continue to offer the current version of the scheme.
This Fast Track version of our scheme is still under development, but will be available later this year. If you are interested in taking this route once it is launched, please let us know.
